WHO WE ARE
The Empowered Woman was founded by Sahba Clara, a human rights advocate and community development practitioner with over a decade of experience working across cultures and communities to advance gender equality and social justice.

Through her work in Australia and internationally, Sahba has engaged with diverse communities - villages, NGOs, universities, government and international organisations - exploring how gender, culture and power shape the experiences of women and girls. This work has given her deep insight into both the systemic barriers women and girls face and the resilience they carry within them.

Her commitment to this work is also personal. Like many women, Sahba has navigated her own experiences of trauma, leading her on a journey of healing that involved reclaiming her voice, prioritising self-care, and strengthening her sense of safety and agency in the world.

The Empowered Woman was created from this understanding: that true empowerment involves both transforming systems and supporting women to reconnect with their own strength, intuition and voice.

In this work we collaborate with a team of trusted specialists, including domestic and family violence experts, self-defence facilitators, multicultural and First Nations community advisors.
